VAFF INDUSTRY presents: AIM³ SUMMIT (Asians in Movies + Media + Music)
For 20 years, VAFF has championed increasing diversity and representation in mainstream media, in front of and behind, the camera. Vancouver is the ideal location for like-minded advocates to gather—we are home to a large, active Asian filmmaking and acting population, affectionately referred to as “Hollywood North”, and arguably the best gateway to Asia. VAFF fiercely supports campaigns such as #StarringJohnCho and #OscarsSoWhite, and will continue to help coordinate these passionate efforts into an actionable plan for substantial change.
For each of the three summit sessions, panel speakers will share personal stories, journeys, and experiences in their fields, then gather at the end of the session to participate in a roundtable discussion allowing for the audience the opportunity to join in on the conversations.
AIM³ session registration is open to VAFF Industry, Filmmaker and VIP Passholders, as well as festival ticket holders with membership.

Vancouver, BC (April 18, 2016): Canadian Producer and creative Andy Chu heads to China to share in Canada’s pride as Guest Country of Honor for the 2016 Meet in Beijing Arts Festival.
Andy has had bestowed upon him the great honor of not only accompanying a selection of Canada’s finest entertainers and artists as they head to China as part of Canada’s delegation for Meet in Beijing Arts Festival, but to also document this momentous occasion. Andy has worked extensively for many years promoting and aiding Canada’s Arts and culture scene. He also works as the board director of Vancouver Asia Film Festival, as well as previously working with Vogue US for Fashion Night Out Vancouver, Miss World Canada and YMCA Women of Distinction Awards.
This trip marks Andy’s second time in China, but will be his first trip to Beijing, and he looks forward to not only documenting and supporting Canada’s artists, but also experiencing the incredibly rich and diverse culture that China has to offer. He will be joining Canada’s delegation as they travel to China representing Canada with the opportunity to build relationships, grow cultural understanding, and partake in learning and cultural exchange. He sees this as an amazing opportunity to not only share this incredible experience with his fellow Canadians through the documentary, but also as a chance to grow his strong bonds with the Canadian arts community as he follows them on this momentous journey and builds his own understanding and experience. This amazing opportunity furthers Andy’s life’s work of promoting Canadian arts, but now gives him the opportunity to work with them on a world stage. Andy is excited to be working with The Canadian Fund for International Understanding through Culture (Can4Culture) whose work has been vital to this project. Can4Culture have been working in consultation with the Canadian and Chinese agencies to prepare and coordinate on behalf of Canada’s delegation.
